okche On the road
OKCHE On the Road encompasses Collaboration Days and Historical Tours. Collaboration Days help us connect with history educators all across Oklahoma. We provide relevant professional learning experiences for rural communities outside the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metros. Additionally, we help to promote and preserve our state’s history by providing Historical Tours of museums and historic sites across Oklahoma. As they continue facing challenges to keep the doors open we encourage history educators and enthusiasts to continue visiting, donating and advocating for places of historic significance across all corners of our state.
Past OKCHE on the road Events
Historical Tour
Our second Historical Tour was held on July 23rd, 2021. It was hosted by the Plains Indians and Pioneers Museum and Historic Fort Supply. We were joined by Oklahoma Historical Society President Dr. Deena Fisher. Additionally, history educators and enthusiasts from Edmond, Gage, Noble and Texhoma.
teacher collaboration
Our first Collaboration Day event was held on August 2nd, 2019. It was hosted by Madill Public Schools. History teachers from Madill and Springer joined us as we connected, collaborated and created during this professional learning event in southern Oklahoma.
Historical tour
Our first Historical Tour was held on September 21, 2019. It was hosted by the 45th Infantry Museum.

OKCHE Lists provide teachers with links to ready made lesson plans covering a wide-range of social studies content geared towards encouraging and supporting the development of meaningful and effective history curriculum and instruction. Additionally, OKCHE Lists showcase a plethora of professional development opportunities and resources for teachers to help encourage the scholarly teaching of history while providing a space for educational and professional interaction among those with an interest in history.
